Marshmallow Shakes

My lovely bride and I made Marshmallow Shakes yesterday.  They are actually very simple.  You toast the marshmallows any way you like.  We used our electric broiler.  If you choose this way, watch them very closely or you may end up with a bit of flame.  Then we blended most of the marshmallow, vanilla, ice cream, and milk, and popped a few whole and toasted marshmallows into the cups and that was all it took.  Thanks to Joy the Baker for the awesome recipe!
Cheers!

Chocolate-covered Candied Orange Peels

Ah, the elusive Candied Orange Peels. I've tried them twice and I have not quite gotten them right either time, though I will say that the first time, I didn't use any recipe at all, except for knowing most of the ingredients. I don't recommend that, unless you are a genius of some kind. The Peels still turned out pretty well, though. Here are some pictures of my Peels!

Essen

Welcome to my Food Blog. I love to bake and to cook, especially in creative ways, both changing old favorites and making new ones from scratch. I'm still working on my cooking, as I am "working out my salvation": "with fear and trembling". (Philippians 2:12, The Bible) :-)

I am also a follower of the Triune God: Yahweh, His Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. He is everything to me, and everything I am is suffused by Him, including my photography, cooking, and writing. If you want to know more about how that works or what it means, I'd love to talk to you about it!

I will be posting as many recipes and stories of food failure/success as I can, with as many accompanying pictures (within reason-you don't need to see forty pictures of boiling water) as I can. Feel free to try my ideas out, if you like.

ps. I like bacon :)

pps. Essen means "food" in German :-)
